Come here for good beer and good fried food. This is not a health food establishment, but you'll be feeling good by the time you leave. Sometimes the place is understaffed; sometimes it's overstaffed. Normally the staff who's there is friendly but not quick. And if a World Cup game is on, expect to meet most of the kitchen staff… And the brick wall is great. See if you can find someone to describe the guy who laid the bricks. I do wish there was artwork on the (other) walls, but that's secondary.

YUM! Yum, yumyum yum yum.

I have no idea what's "authentic", etc. but the food is wonderful. The flavors are rich and entertaining. The servings don't appear large, but my wife and I always have enough leftovers for a light meal each. The menu has reliable, constant choices, and the specials touch on more seasonal items (or just lucky finds). When we go out for strong flavors and satisfying food, we often head to Bangkok Kitchen.

First and foremost, the people there are nice. That's a rarity in the bay area. These folks care about the coffee, the store, the customers, and each other. And they put up with us poor saps who come in almost every day to work for a bit. The coffee's really good for a coffee shop (I roast my own at home, so I'm a picky bastard).

If you stop by Todos Santos Plaza for the farmer's market, if you're in the mood for live music many evenings, or just if you need a comfy place to relax with a good cup of coffee/tea/fruit smoothie, Panama Red's your place.
